Hi folks! My name is Drew, and Iโm here representing the U.S. National Science Foundation Project Pythia, an open source collaboration between UAlbany, NSF NCAR, NSF Unidata and the Pangeo community to create a community of practice centered around high quality online geoscientific programming workflows and learning resources. We may have seen each other around here or there I have some exciting news:
Registration is open for the 2024 Pythia Cook-off!
Pythia Cook-off 2024 โ Pythia Cook-off 2024 for registration and details.
This U.S. National Science Foundation funded hackathon for Cookbook development will see participants develop their Python coding, communication, collaboration, and educational development skills while growing the collection of Pythia Cookbooks for the open source, open science community to benefit from.
Join us online via Zoom or in-person at the NCAR Mesa Lab in Boulder, CO June 11-14 2024. Registration closes May 26, 2024!
This event will benefit students, researchers, developers, and professionals across a variety of coding skill levels, and Project Pythia encourages anyone interested in online learning resources in open geoscientific computing, even as users or non-code contributors, to visit ProjectPythia.org/pythia-cookoff-2024/ for further information and registration! Consider registering to lead a small breakout group of excited participants to gather around similar new ideas or pre-existing content.
New in 2024 Project Pythia also has a limited supply of NSF funding to support some or all travel expenses for in-person participants! Register by March 29 for priority consideration for financial support, and check out our Travel Information page for details. If you have any questions, please reach out to projectpythia@ucar.edu or reply to this post.
We look forward to seeing you this Summer!
